Polk-Quincy Viaduct Project
Starting Monday, June 8, all lanes of I-70 between Topeka Boulevard and 8th Avenue are scheduled to close until December. During the closure, project work will focus on removing the existing viaduct and completing the new structures. Construction will also continue on the new I-70 lanes and local street network.
Aside from intermittent closures, Kansas Avenue and Topeka Boulevard, including both bridges, will be open for northbound and southbound travel.
As the total closure of the I-70 Polk-Quincy Viaduct approaches, drivers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with both local and interstate detour routes to help navigate through the Topeka area during construction activities. Planning ahead and reviewing alternate routes before traveling can help reduce delays and improve traffic flow throughout the corridor.
