Update: The Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission meeting scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, has been cancelled. The two cases originally scheduled for the Planning Commission meeting will instead be considered on Monday, October 12, 2026.
A Planning Commission meeting will be held Monday, October 12, 2026, at 6 pm, at the Shawnee County Annex, 1515 NW Saline St. There are no agenda items related to utility structures, energy storage facilities, or data centers at this meeting.

Conditional Use Permit Application -- CU-26-203 Compass Datacenters

  • Update: Wednesday, September 9, 2026

    As of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Shawnee County Land Use & Development deemed the Conditional Use Permit application for Compass Datacenter CU-26-203 as complete. This determination does not mean that Shawnee County has made any decision or determination on the merits of the project, or the plans or reports submitted with the application. At this time the department will move forward in conducting a full case review of the proposed project with the support of reviewing entities and its independent engineering firm. No public hearing has been scheduled at this time. Please continue to check back as information may be updated during the processing of this case.

    Shawnee County Land Use & Development received amended exhibits and supplemental details from Compass Datacenters in accordance with the filing deadline . These items are currently being evaluated to determine if a complete application has been received.

    On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Shawnee County Land Use & Development made an official determination that application CU-26-203 Compass Datacenters is incomplete. The next filing submission deadline for Conditional Use Permit cases is Friday August 28, 2026, at noon. No further action will be taken on this matter at this time.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, Shawnee County Land Use & Development received a Conditional Use Permit application for a data center from Compass Datacenters. In an effort to provide details to the public in a timely manner, case information will be posted on this site.

The application is currently being evaluated by Land Use & Development staff to ensure it is a complete application, and is not yet under review. Please continue to check back as documentation and information may be updated during the processing of this case.
